Slaty Bristlefront
The Slaty Bristlefront (Merulaxis ater) is a member of the tapaculos, the Neotropical bird family Rhinocryptidae. It inhabits the forests of south-east Brazil. It is currently becoming rare due to habitat loss, especially to the lowland forests. Scientific classification: Kingdom: Animalia, Phylum: Chordata, Class: Aves, Order: Passeriformes, Family: Rhinocryptidae, Genus: Merulaxis, Species: M. ater, Binomial name: Merulaxis ater.
